YBSL Sri Lanka MapThe Youth Business Sri Lanka (YBSL) programme is the country wide expansion of the youth business assistance programme successfully piloted in Hambantota by Hambantota District Chamber of Commerce. Implemented in 32 countries and modeled on the principles of Youth Business International of UK (YBI) , YBSL supports youth to start a business through provision of concessionary credit facilities and associating a mature and experienced individual who provides business mentor support voluntarily. This mentoring approach has been very effective in sustaining the newly started business as going concerns, because it is at the beginning the youth entrepreneurs needs business advices most. The mentoring approach also inculcates a certain responsibility to the programme, thereby facilitating the credit recovery.

Additions to the YBSL Board of Trustees
Ms. Shyamalee TudaweMs. Shyamalee Tudawe, is an engineering graduate from University of Moratuwa, a holder of MBA from University of Sydney, and also a Passed finalist CIMA. She has started her career at DFCC Bank in 1984 and later worked at; RAFAD Foundation, Switzerland as the Asia Representative and FAI First Mortgage Limited, Australia as a Credit Manager. She ventured into writing in 1998, starting with Femina Sri Lanka, and at present is the Chief Editor of Hi Magazine of Wijeya Group. She is also a Freelance Business Report Writer on Women in Business. She is a winner of Zonta Award for Media in 2009.
Ms. Vidyani Hettigoda
Ms Vidyani Hettigoda, is qualified in Business Management and Computer Programming and started her career at Royal Mail in UK as a Systems Analyst. She involved in the family business, Hettigoda Industries; from 1996, introducing Ayurveda Spa concept in Sri Lanka and subsequently opened several Ayurveda Spas in Germany. As a Director at Hettigoda Industries, she heads the international marketing division of Siddalapa Ayurveda Resort and Spas / Spa Products. She is the Chairperson of the Women's Chamber of Industry and Commerce is engaged in activities that empower women through skills development
YBSL is represented at the YBI Board
Mr. Sriyan De Silva Wijeyeratne
Mr. Sriyan De Silva Wijeyeratne, a founder trustee of the YBSL and the country manager of Microsoft Sri Lanka, was recently elected as an inaugural Board Representative for the Board of Youth Business International representing the YBI network. He holds a First Class degree in Business Administration from the University of Sri Jayawardenapura, a Masters degree from the same University, and is also an Associate Member of CIMA, UK. He was adjudged the “Business Manager of the Year 2005” by CIMA and has a history of active involvement with Youth. As a founder trustee of the YBSL, he has provided critical assessment of YBSL initiatives and has been instrumental in providing strategic direction to the programme.
